Body Love: Piece By Piece

Im dedicating the next few months of 2020 to self love and appreciation. I am breaking down the love I have for my body by specifically appreciating and celebrating one part at a time. In general our bodies are so amazing and I feel like we often separate and divide our body love which ends up creating a fractured self image.

I am taking the time to worship each part of my body by celebrating all it does for me and really embracing the indispensable role it plays in my daily life. My goal for this practice is to fully incorporate an unwavering self love, healthy body image conversations, and really just embrace every part of myself.

In past conversations I’ve had with clients, friends, family, and even with myself I have noticed a pattern of only loving or appreciating a certain aspect of our bodies. If you only give love to part of yourself you’re never going to fully accept, love and appreciate your whole self. This includes all parts of your past, present, and future self.

I look back on my past self and remind myself now, to fully love and accept who I was in the past. From the girl I was when I was just a child to the girl I was in high school, college and to my present self as an adult. I think I can say that many of us, if not all have had body image struggles in our past and present lives. The point of celebrating your body piece by piece is so that our future selves won’t constantly suffer from a negative self image.

I’m not saying that your body has to fit into any societal category of being “perfect, pretty, healthy, fit, sexy, or beautiful.” Chances are that you will never fit perfectly into a category that society labels people. Mainly because society is composed of billions of different peoples opinions but the only persons opinion that truly matters and can greatly impact your life is YOURS.

No one knows YOU better than you do, no one can love YOU greater than you, and there is no one who is just like YOU. Being an individual is the greatest gift we were given on this earth and its time you celebrate it. At least I want to.

So here is how it goes, pick a part of your body to celebrate each week until the new year. Start at the top, bottom, or at your center. Look at yourself in the mirror, let go of all negative thoughts and just simply celebrate a piece of your body. Think about all it does for you, give it love, tell your body how much your appreciate it, send it positive thoughts and bask in your individuality, your greatest gift.

With Love,
