Energy Tracking

Do you wake up with all the energy you need for the day? What if you did?

Checking in daily with your energy levels and tracking how you feel each day is a great way to take control of your energy. Knowing yourself, your patterns, cycles you go through and all your little tics. Keeping track of how you feel each day and writing notes around what your day was like is a great way to learn more about yourself and optimize your living.

When you wake up in the morning write down how you slept. Do you feel vibrant, awake, full of energy or do you feel groggy, run down, and tired? Check in with yourself, see what changes on a weekly basis. Throughout the day make note of what your energy levels are like.

Throughout your day do you supplement your energy with caffeine, or chain eat while at your desk? At the end of the day going to sleep should feel natural and be easy. Too often we can feel restless at the end of the day and are unable to fall or stay asleep. Our minds are constantly being stimulated causing a chronic disruption of our natural sleep cycles.

Currently I am working on going to sleep when I feel tired and not staying up watching a show or playing on my phone in bed. I have noticed for myself that it takes me longer to fall asleep when something else is going on. My goal for this coming year is to not feel the need to play a movie or have a distraction to fall asleep. I have recently been doing much better on this goal of mine. One trick I have used is my “bedtime” app on my phone, automatically after 8:00 pm my phone goes into sleep mode, my notifications are silenced and my screen darkens. This has been absolutely great, I am no longer distracted by a late night message or social media notification.

Another trick I have been using in order to work towards my new habit goal is to light a candle and dim my lights an hour or so before I want to go to sleep. This keeps the energy low and peaceful in my room, allowing for the perfect atmosphere to fall asleep and fully rest my mind and body. All in all I suggest taking a moment of reflection on your energy levels throughout your day, sleep patterns and other supplemental factors regard energy and assess if there is something you would like to change about your current routine.

Stay Mindful,

Cassandra
