We all think in a very specific way, throughout our lives patterns are built forming the way we think, act, and live.
Pattern: a combination of qualities, acts, tendencies, etc., forming a consistent or characteristic arrangement.
Most often we are not consciously aware of our thought patterns and processes. They are stored somewhere way back in our heads and we have a continuous flow of thoughts in and out of our minds.
Are we taking the time to break down the way we are thinking and why we are thinking in that way?
Do you know if you have a negative or a positive thought process?
You may not constantly have a negative or positive thought process in general around life, life doesn’t usually happen to be that consistent. Instead there is a finer pattern at play in your head. It’s your job to take a look inward and figure out what circumstances, feeling, and actions are you feeding with negative or positive thought processes.
I used to have a negative outlook on driving in traffic. I would think to my self “great, now I have to sit here and wait. What is taking so long? Can’t people learn to drive the speed limit?” These are just a few thoughts that would run through my head mindlessly. I realized I was bumming myself out, I didn’t like being angry on my drive home from work or school. So I decided to change my outlook on traffic. I decided this was my time to be alone, I could jam out to my favorite music on full blast, enjoy the beautiful nature around me, and use this time to just sit and reflect on my day.
It’s not that I love traffic now, and its definitely not my preference but it no longer bothers me. I changed my thought process for that circumstance when it comes up in my life. Changing the way you think and speak about something really changes how you feel about it. Simple switches from “I have to” to “I get to” will shift your outlook, feelings and behavior in life. This simple switch can be applied to everything you do, you just have to THINK about it.

Stay Healthy,
